Today, April 30 at 2:30, Elijah Curtley signed with Indiana Tech. Elijah is a state qualifier placing 7th, 2x Sectional Champ, 2x Regional Champ, 2x HHC Champ, 3x Semi-State Qualifier, 3x Team Indiana member, Capitol City Classic Champion, 2x ISWA Greco Roman State Champion and a KY Freestyle, Folkstyle, Sambo and Greco Roman State Champ. Elijah helped lead the Red Devils to 4 straight sectional titles, and 3 HHC team titles. Elijah also excels in other areas as he was All-area in football and a 2x Academic All-State in wrestling.
Elijah attended Bridgepoint for Kindergarten, 1st and second grade at Maple, half of second grade and third grade back toBridgepoint, 4th and 5th grade Riverside.
Elijah coached Bridgepoint Elementary in wrestling this year, they were the the co-champions for the elementary league.
Elijah joins the Indiana Tech Warriors in Fort Wayne. The warriors compete in the NAIA. Last year was their first year of competition and they took 2 all-american spots! Not only did the Warriors get the job done on the mat this season, but they also received NAIA/NWCA All-Academic Team honors with a team grade point average of 3.34, the second best team GPA in the nation. The only school to post a higher GPA was the University of Great Falls with a 3.39.
Elijah will go wrestle with Indiana Tech’s head coach, Mike Ester. Ester has coached at the High School level for Fort Wayne Snider, the at the college level for Trine University. Ester competed for Fort Wayne Snider’s wrestling team from 1988-1992. He was a two-time state qualifier, a 3rd place medalist during his senior campaign and co-captain for the Panthers. Snider claimed the city’s first ever team semi-state championship in 1992. Ester attended Manchester College as a member of the wrestling team from 1992 to 1996. He was a 4-year letter winner, three-time conference champion, the first Spartan wrestler to be crowned champion at the prestigious Midwest Classic, an NCAA qualifier his senior season, and a two-year team captain.
